The Department of Chemistry established its Research Laboratory in the academic year 2021–22 with the objective of promoting research culture among undergraduate and postgraduate students and strengthening faculty research activities.
The laboratory was inaugurated on 22nd February 2022 in the auspicious hands of Dr. N. L. Thakur, Senior Scientist, National Institute of Oceanography (NIO), Goa. The inauguration marked an important milestone for the department in enhancing research infrastructure and providing students with opportunities for hands-on experimental learning.
The research laboratory is equipped with several essential instruments and facilities required for chemical research and experimentation. The major instruments available in the laboratory include Rotary Evaporator, Hot Plates, TLC-UV Chamber, Orbital Shaker, Microwave Oven, Suction Pump, Flame Photometer, IR Lamp, Electronic Balance, along with a wide range of necessary laboratory glassware and accessories required for experimental work.
These facilities enable students and faculty members to carry out various analytical, synthetic, and experimental studies in chemistry.
The laboratory is actively utilized for multiple academic and research purposes such as:
• Aavishkar Research Projects undertaken by undergraduate and postgraduate students.
• Research project work of M.Sc. Part II students as prescribed in the curriculum.
• Minor research activities and experimental studies by faculty members.
• Training students in modern laboratory techniques and research methodology.
The establishment of this research laboratory has significantly strengthened the department’s ability to conduct experimental research and has provided students with valuable exposure to research-oriented learning. It also encourages students to develop scientific thinking, analytical skills, and innovation through participation in research projects and academic competitions.
Overall, the laboratory serves as an important platform for promoting student research, faculty research initiatives, and experiential learning in chemistry, thereby contributing to the academic growth and research culture of the department.

  1. Zoology Research Center in Sant Rawool Maharaj Mahavidyalaya has been established since the academic year 2020-2021. It is a recognized Ph.D. Research Center by University of Mumbai since then. At present, six research scholars are doing their research work for the degree of Ph.D. under the able guidance of three faculties of the department itself, who has been recognized as Research guides by the Mumbai University. In the near future, the number of students working for Ph.D. research will be raised to 12 as legal permission procedure has been followed for the same as per the Mumbai University norms.
  2. Besides, two major research projects, sanctioned by Maharashtra Gene Bank of Maharashtra State Biodiversity Board, Nagpur, are going on under the roof of Zoology research projects. Both the projects are being run by two different departmental faculties itself and four past students are working as paid assistants for the projects.
  3. Besides, district level programme of restoration as well as conservation of wetlands and consequent concerned research is also undertaken as a volunteer activity by the Zoology research center of the college.
  4. At the same time, faculties working in the department conduct biodiversity awareness programmes throughout the districts for schools and common people under the heading of Zoology research center of the college.
