Department of Physics
Established in 1996-97, the Department of Physics marked a significant step in the institution’s commitment to expanding its science curriculum. In its foundational years, the department initially offered instruction exclusively at the Second Year B.Sc. level.
This focused approach allowed the department to concentrate its resources on building a strong academic core, developing a robust curriculum, and establishing essential laboratory facilities. By specializing in the second-year program, the department ensured a high-quality, intensive learning experience for students who had completed their introductory first-year studies elsewhere.
The curriculum was designed to provide a comprehensive grounding in core areas of physics, serving as a critical bridge between fundamental concepts and more advanced, specialized topics. This initial phase was instrumental in shaping the department’s identity and laying a solid foundation for its future growth and development.
Key functions of the department include:
- Delivering lecturesthat explain theoretical concepts.
- Conducting laboratory sessionswhere students gain hands-on experience with experiments, developing crucial practical and analytical skills.
- Fostering scientific inquiryand critical thinking through projects and seminars.
Ultimately, the department aims to prepare students for diverse career paths in research, technology, education, and industry, while cultivating a deep appreciation for the principles that shape our understanding of the physical world.
Vision –
To provide quality physics education for society’s technological progress.
Mission
- To provide high-quality physics education through innovative teaching, practical training, and mentorship.
- To inculcate curiosity, analytical thinking, and problem-solving skills among students.
Best Practices
- “Examining Student Learning Outcomes through Verbal Communication”.
- Experimental Demonstrative Exhibition for creating scientific temperament among the junior college students.
