Title of the Practice : Go Green, Live Healthy

Goal : To be a role model for Go Green concept

Context : Pollution is a global crisis. Burning fuel through use of vehicles is one of the reasons for pollution. By reducing unnecessary use of vehicles we can reduce pollution up to some extent. Use of bicycle will not only serve the purpose but give health benefits also. Awareness of this among society and motivating people for the same with the message ‘Go Green, Live Healthy’, was the purpose of this activity.

As per saying, ‘Action speaks louder than mere words” and being  in the field of education; if we ask and expect  society should follow some aspects like Go Green for sustainable development in general, then we believe that, we first do it and then we have moral to ask others to behave accordingly.  With this context three teachers of this college voluntarily decided to organise cycle rally throughout the district to spread this message.

Practice : During 22nd December 2016 to 24th December 2016, three teachers of the college, viz. Dr. Yogesh Koli, Mr. Ajit Kanshide and Mr. Santosh Chougule did cycle rally covering  6 Talukas of Sindhudurg District out of 8. Distance covered was 250km in three days. Teachers had visited various schools, colleges also interacted with public at public places. Overall ‘Go Green, Live Healthy’ message was spread in the district by interacting with about 1000 individuals.

Evidence of success : The three teachers successfully completed the rally and spread the message ‘Go Green, Live Healthy’ through pamphlets and interaction with school and college students and common people as well. The teachers decided to extend the activity in the next year and planned to do the same type of awareness through cycle rally up to Kanyakumari.
